I recently went through the on-site loop with Meta. I’m wondering if any current or former Meta employees can shed some light on how my interview performance might be evaluated. It wasn’t my best showing but not horrible either IMHO. TPS: 2 coding questions — knocked it out of the park, got to the optimal solution for both without any assistance. Onsite: - Coding 1: 2 questions — needed some hand holding to get to the solution for the first question but I solved the second question more or less without help but then the interviewer asked me to make a language-specific update that I didn’t understand initially but we ended up getting there although I don’t think my code was production ready after that refactor. - Coding 2: 2 questions — solved the first part of the first question without any help but needed some hand holding to solve a follow up. For the second question, I needed a hint to get to the solution. - Behavioral: typical — nailed it, interviewer seemed really happy with my answers to their questions and follow ups. - System Design: typical — nailed it, interviewer seemed very content with my design choices and I was able to lead the entire discussion with the interviewer just asking some clarifying questions about decisions along the way. What do you think the feedback will be? Does TPS feedback come into play at all? I’m hoping maybe my strong showing there makes up for the weaker showing in the on-site coding rounds. I’ve also heard of redos of certain rounds if feedback is mixed. How does that work? Is a coding round redo possible? UPDATE: heard back about two weeks after my loop that it was a close/split decision but ultimately a reject. I wasn’t offered any additional feedback. TC: ~$400k YOE: 8
Damn 400k at 8 yoe. Congratulations
Thanks! Got lucky in the hot late-2021 market.
Were the coding questions LC tagged?
Yes, very predictable questions but the interviews still find ways to dig deeper on core concepts beyond just the optimal working solution.
What is the motivation to leave Dropbox with this TC?
Too many re-orgs/priority shifts. Also, I’m only focusing my search on companies that can pay similarly.
Try Block/Square/CashApp. We will pay that much if you clear L6 loop.
If you could share the System Design question. That would be awesome!! Hope you get that E5 offer!!
I’m hesitant to share specific details here until I get my feedback but feel free to DM me and I can go over my experience and how I prepped for it.
Hi OP. I am in a similar situation. I did the full loop three weeks ago but have not gotten a yea/no decision. Could you please share your timeline after full loop? Wish you get a good offer soon
Sorry to hear. I hate when they do that. I’d much rather get a “no” ASAP than not hear anything for weeks. Thankfully, my recruiter seems pretty responsive so far. I was told it shouldn’t take longer than 2-3 business days after the full loop to hear the feedback. If there are key PTOs that get in the way, then maybe it might take 5 business days.
My recruiter said a week. You should probably get an update if it makes it to the hiring bar but doubt you will get an offer in that timeline.
You think too much
You’re not wrong.
You should have interviewed for E6. There are folks with 3 YOE E5 at Meta.
Did you hear back?
Made it to the debrief but, as I suspected, the recruiter said one of my coding rounds could’ve been better. Should be getting an update with the debrief decision some time this week.
What is debrief?
How did it go? Did you get the offer?
Updated the post. It was ultimately a reject.
Thanks 🙏🏽 DMing you now.
