I am trying to understand Meta vs Amazon scope better. A top tier L6 at Amazon on PE promo track is at the very least reporting to an L7 manager with scope over multiple teams (3+) Given that I don’t quite understand the mapping to Meta. I have heard E6 is considered a team lead with influence over adjacent teams. That’s pretty much what a newly promoted (or let’s say 1 year+) L6 at Amazon does. Can someone who has worked at both places comment on scope? I understand technical complexity and impact expectations may be higher at Meta. But trying to understand scope over teams or a domain.
Meta E6 is equivalent to a Amazon L5 TT
Really? I suspect Meta would rarely consider an L5 for E6.
I’m a TT L5 expecting a promotion to L6 within a year and I was offered to interview for E6 at Meta (although I was expecting a downlevel to be honest). The pay difference is huge although meta is based prominently in HCOL while Amazon has a lot of MCOL and even LCOL locations. That pay difference might be what causes confusion.
Newly peomoted L6 is equivalent to newly promoted E6
E6 is similar scope to a tenured L6. Amazon L7 has a larger scope.

Why no one cares about the lives lost in Gaza, Israel and busy in their own lives?
Obviously a top tier E6 at meta on a promo path to E7 is going to be operating at or close to E7 scope. Promos are backwards looking, you don't get them until after you've been performing at the next level for a bit. Why are you comparing the typical E6 at meta to an about-to-be promoted L6 at Amazon? From everything I've seen, it looks like it's easier to get higher numeric level roles in amazon and levels.fyi seems to confirm this.
> From everything I've seen, it looks like it's easier to get higher numeric level roles in amazon and levels.fyi seems to confirm this. What does this mean? It’s not easy to be promoted from L6 to L7 at Amazon. :) I know plenty of amazing engineers slaving away here for L7 promo for 4+ years.
According to levels.fyi which I understand isn’t perfect to understand scope, Meta E6 corresponds to the higher end of Amazon L6. That’s why I was comparing the two. The typical E6 isn’t the typical L6 according to levels.fyi. If that were the case I would have expected more overlap. I get your point regarding promos though and that might be it in the end. Both E6 and L6 start off as team leads and then grow into org leads as you get closer to E7 and L7
