Hey y’all, I heard of Meta having two different kinds of TPMs and wanted to learn more. 1. What’s the difference between Infra TPM vs Product TPM? 2. Do they both report up to the same chain? Or is one Eng and the other Product Managment? 3. How’s the promo velocity and/or growth perspective betwee the two? 4. Is there a difference in terms of annual rewards? 5. Is there a difference in terms of TC? 6. Any difference in interview prep? Thank you so much to anyone who can help :) #tech #Fb #facebook #meta #TC #infra #product #tpm #career #rewards #interview #interviewprep
If you are a good TPM, go to infra, if not so much, and you enjoy managing tasks and sending reminders, go to product TPM.
Gotcha. So Infra is more about process improvements and tracking success. Product is more project management ish?
They don't report into the same chain. No difference in comp. Promo opportunities pretty much the same across both; depends more on what product area and how that is growing. Interview rounds are the same; infra will focus the system design round more on backend stuff, capacity planning/estimation, infra components, etc.
Is Meta better than Coinbase right now? Vice versa?
Left Meta to join Coinbase last year. Love it so far.
How difficult System Design interview is for Product Tpm role? and what type of ques does an interviewer ask in Technical Retrospective round?
Product tpms work on product related stuff like fb app, infra tpms are highly technical and work on capacity, storage, platform etc. Roles are similar but audience is different. In some cases you may just end up managing schedule and tasks
Gotcha. Thank you so much for the insight 😊
