https://www.vox.com/technology/2023/5/18/23729176/meta-silicon-valley-massive-layoffs-mark-zuckerberg Happening this coming week. Hopefully that is the end of the layoffs and herald better times ahead. For those impacted, pls know that the Blind community is here for you. The world doesn't end when your time at Meta ends; rather let that mark the start of a truly career-defining moment of your life. I can't help refer for any jobs as I'm also in between jobs but I can say for sure that things aren't as bad as they seem nor as good as they appear. You will survive. Let's cheer and rally around those who have fallen and give them the support they need to get back up. Ditto for anyone / everyone impacted by the senseless layoffs of the past few months. You got this, metamates and friends. #layoffs #meta #community #survivors #referral #network #prayersforall 💪💪💪
#ReadyForWork going ham on the weekend
Get ready for more LinkedIn layoff posts. On a side note, LinkedIn is mostly AI stuff or layoff and it is just getting really stale for me. Hopefully once this round of layoffs is over, we can all get back to building companies, careers and teams.
The fuck? Building companies careers and teams? Are you an intern? How naive are you?
At this point it might actually be nice to take the severance and go for a long vacation until market recovers
Might be a really long vacation though ..
Let’s go together!! How about a meta organized layoff trip.
Is this a brand new, previously unannounced round or the execution of the managerial layoff they already mentioned months ago?
Execution of the previously announced layoffs. The managerial flattening might be related but can't be 100% sure.
The flattening was such a lie. They laid off ICs and asked managers to take their roles now vacant.
They split round 2 into three parts. Round 2.0 was recruiters in March. Round 2.1 was people on technical teams in April. This is round 2.2 which hits business teams. Of course, business teams includes technical people working on projects on those teams. They say that’s the end of planned broad scale layoffs at Meta. Who knows if more is really coming of course.
Or maybe 5/18 is the end day of 2/3 months notice of previous layoffs on 2/18 and 3/18 ?
Not this time. They announced the schedule a while ago and this is the last publicly planned stage of new layoffs.
Thanks for the support, OP!
Honestly, I have no sympathy for Metamates. We all ride the high income wave and when it’s done it’s done. We should all be less arrogant and elitist next time there’s a bubble and remember that good things don’t last. And yes, they did reject me many years ago:)
you know, the world is round and what goes around comes around. I get that you are upset bc you didn't make it to Meta but you are at LinkedIn which is pretty awesome. How about looking at it more positively -- Meta closed the door for you so that another door that is LinkedIn opened up for you and you escaped the layoffs bc you are now at LinkedIn :) We all benefit from the high income so let's hope it stays that way for the years to come. Don't forget that very important lesson the layoffs have taught us -- we are all but a digit to the company we are enslaved to and it is the people, the relationships that ultimately count at the end of the day.
Didn’t LinkedIn have layoffs??
Disgusting. They should have done this in one round and been done with it
Yeah like us. But we are suffering due to lack of people
It is incredibly stressful for those teams at Meta this weekend. I will never wish that upon anyone. I went thru a layoff myself and it was brutal though mine was shocking and completely unexpected. I lost my job overnight.
🍑 💨
When will MacZac stop layoffs? Will it be when the Meta share reaches $500?
When total headcount reach 4500.
I thought they already announced second round? Is this third?
The second round of layoffs comes in 3 parts. Essentially this is the 3/3 if it helps to look at it this way.
I see. I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks
