Hi! Currently a junior in university deciding where to intern for my junior year summer. I was lucky enough to receive two offers: Meta in Menlo Park, CA and Amazon (AWS) in NYC. But I can't decide between them. The most important thing to me is the return to new grad offer. Meta has been untrustworthy with this, but the recruiter has told me that they intend to convert interns to new grad as of now. I really want to be in NYC in the future, but I also don't want to give up Meta just for the location. If I did choose Meta and potentially get a return new grad offer, I would try my best to return full time to NYC or transfer internally to NYC. Also, I don't know what my team is for Meta yet, but my return to AWS is on a Generative AI team, and being on an ML related team is also important to me. Appreciate any advice bc I'm really stuck right now and I have no idea what to do. :) #software #swe #intern
What uni do you attend? One might be better just for the experience of location.

Meta will teach you a lot more than Amazon will
Given the amount of shit Amazon gets this might be controversial.. but Amazon alums / interviewees were on average much stronger than Meta. I think the bad wlb / sink or swim culture / harder promo process is a better "bootcamp" experience. Not saying it's a better place to work at, but you might actually learn more there.
Not my experience. Been here for 1.5 years. Haven’t learnt much other than politics and reorgs
