I got an offer to work at Meta in Seattle. At first I applied directly to the USA for Meta and got rejected. Then they transferred my application to Toronto and they gave me an offer. But then I talked to the recruiter and he said that he could transfer it to Seattle without any approvals needed, so he did! The position is called "Software Developer, Canadian Universities New grad" or something similar on my Meta careers portal. Im wondering if I got underpaid since they know im coming from Canada with generally lower TC. Also looking for team recommendations! For context I currently work in Toronto for Amazon. Current TC: 120k CAD Meta Offer TC: 170k USD (118 base, 50 sign on, 150 stocks over 4 years vested 25% per year) Yoe: 1 #tech #seattle #meta #amazon #facebook
you have a bachelor degree or masters?
For 1 year of experience this is good and it gets you out of Canada.
I think this is the standard new grad meta offer for Seattle. You could wait 1 year and apply for E4 but might as well join now since itâs very doable to get E4 in a year
Hey OP, can I dm? I got an offer for Toronto new grad only because they said Seattle and mpk were all full
Yea dm me. The recruiter said mpk was full but seattle had space and required no approval
I will say this: when i turned down the toronto offer, the recruiter started to help out more with other ideas and flexibility. So if you say or hint that you wont take the toronto offer, they might be more lenient and say theyll check for seattle spots
Go to Seattle no income tax and you will learn a ton at Meta and should be able to get to E4 then transfer to another FANNG in US and you will be making the big TC

Looks about right for 1YOE. Do it! Get out of the Canadian market if you have the chance! Youâll get paid so much better in the US. And you wonât have to deal with winter in Toronto.
Just avoid Canada. Itâs a very badly run country.
Compared to what, USA? đ€Łđ€Ą
