Meta VP hardware

Just found out that vp hardware in meta reality labs was chief product officer of juicero. This juicero: https://www.cnet.com/culture/juicero-is-still-the-greatest-example-of-silicon-valley-stupidity/ Omg - no wonder this company is dying. Who hires such people? Do they even do any background verification? #tech #meta #layoffs

Juicero tried to hire me, I was laughing when they were pitching it. I forgot all about it until you posted this 😂

Sounds like when a recruiter from The Boring Company asked me if I was interested in moving to Austin for a Senior ME role. I couldn't stop laughing for 30 minutes.

Why is hiring from juicero bad

Squarespace igrb47 Nov 11, 2022

It seems like they packaged preexisting stuff and tried to sell it

Investment Management Firm grittymac Nov 11, 2022

The VP was complicit in the scam - a juicer that simply used pre-made juices and mixed water in it. Charged a subscription fee and a hefty initial equipment charge. A scammer’s mind alone can come up with such design.

You should look at the engineering breakdown on Juicero machine. The word ridiculous is understating it.

Just another typical Silicon Valley scam

Is this the same company that tried to sell a blender that "blended" their special juice powder with water? 😂

Square KwBT39 Nov 11, 2022

juicer, not blender.

Amazon orangepip Nov 12, 2022

Squeezer would be a more appropriate name. 😂

Meta does NOT care about technical expertise. The VPs and directors here don't even know what that means. All they know is direction setting. Wow this guy ideated, funded, scoped, executed, marketed, and released his own product?!! Such high level behavior. We gotta hire him! Wait he doesn't know anything about VR technology? Shhhh me neither. We'll just leave the tech details to the low level nerds anyway

Cruise hjnnw OP Nov 11, 2022

But he couldn’t even make that successful. If you can’t succeed in juice making, how can you be successful in vr industry? Crazy how he got hired, and here I have to do 10 leetcode and behavioral interviews before a fucking dumb “quorom” of directors will evaluate my interview performance before making an offer. Fuck this shit.

Yup, it's all BS. There are lords and there are peasants

If they hire BA to be PM, why not?

Spotify FjfS28 Nov 11, 2022

The dumbest part about meta is desensitized and out of touch managers. It was not uncommon for managers to say that the place was for go getters only, and the expectation was to work with more intensity. Imbeciles indeed.
