Moving to DC from the Midwest and was wondering about the area. Good places to live near the office? I’ll be renting and was wondering if I should live in or outside the city? How’s driving to work or will I need to rely on public transportation? Getting very mixed information from my searches. Old tc 120k New tc 285k #meta
With that TC you can probably live in Foggy bottom / capitol hill
Ugh no thanks.
Dont live in DC unless u can afford NW. Some parts of NE are ok. Bethesda, Silver Springs are genrally ok. If u can do hybrid it might be worthit to live 45-1 hour away. The metro is pretty good in DC but still need to take taxis/uber to some good places.
You'll be fine with that TC. Live in a city, ride the metro. Georgetown, Woodley, Cleveland are good. Stay away from East/NE. Majority of young folks in office live in the city due to better social life.
What area of NE? I live by Union market and it’s a great area to be imo. I would stay away from North Cap St and some parts of NoMA, but if you’re fine paying Union market area rent it’s a chill place
Where is the office? We live in Loudoun County, VA and love the area. Stay out of Montgomery and Prince William counties in MD. They have higher crime and Maryland has a county income tax in addition to state income taxes. If you are looking in DC, stay out of SE (NW is preferred for many)
Don't live in Virginia - they tax your car for property tax
Hey? What company do you work for? I didn’t know there were any investment banks here. Otherwise, can I DM?
That’s a huge TC bump for you. Tbh You’ll be fine anywhere in the US if renting with that TC
YOE if you don’t mind me asking?
Feel free to msg me for tips. I’ve lived in this area a. very long time
