If you interviewed for e5 then no, they determined you didn't meet the standard for that already.

Also you'll get a package that's much higher than current. 5.5 yoe e4 is not bad. You don't want to work at e5 and underperform.

It was good, did really good in coding and behaviour. Sysdesign could have gone slightly better.
Seems like you think you did really well but not well enough. Generally speaking doing great at all interviews and decent at another is a strong sign. I expect you did worse than you believe

Unfortunately no
You don't want to get hit with a missed expectations rating at all. Start with IC4 and aim for a greatly exceeds or redefines. If they don't think you're ready for 5 you probably aren't. There are alot of influence expectations.
You probably did borderline on system design and combined with your resume, leveled E4. The scope of senior level projects in FAANG is pretty large and the bar is high.
Potentially for the best, what's the meta offer? You can ask for a follow-up but they might not give it to you.
It’s not a bad idea to come in with lower expectations and then exceed them vs. come in high and struggle. Though I suppose getting promoted to E5 means you’d miss out on the E5 new hire stock grant.
Can try again next year, you dont wanna miss out on the new hire grant for higher level. Thats a huge difference
