Meta is succeeding in VR

I got my Meta Quest 3 which finally feels like VR is great. After playing Asgard Wrath 2, I was blown away by both the hardware and the game. Asgard Wrath 2 has amazing graphics and you have full 360' action which is highly immersive and looks like an actual fight - think of some of the best disney world rides. The game does not feel laggy and has 100+ hours of campaign story. This game alone can drive the Quest 2 and Quest 3 sale (free on Quest 3). Heard the game plays good on Quest 2 also. This feels like the first huge win for Meta and is a real showcase of VR potential. Meta's Billion dollar spend on Metaverse also includes acquiring VR gaming companies (10+ studios) and Meta owns a good amount of major VR game studios including the studio that made Asgard Wrath 2. This game also is one of the first with heavy AI usage. The bots changes strategy and every game replay is different. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alI12iyQ1SU

VR is great but this is way too positive for blind. Flagged.

Play the game buddy, you will agree with me.

Meta decided to hyper focus on VRs and guess it is paying off . I’ve heard great reviews of this game and plan to download it on quest 2 .

Good post!

Oh wow oculus is great one one game. Sorry it won’t help. Too niche, too few people will use it. And Meta needs billions of users for all that to make any sense.

Meta richаrdhea Dec 10, 2023

How is the windows phone business going? 😘

Meta chat2 Dec 10, 2023

Love how a quickly growing space with only 150m+ million users is "niche"

Block Tres_Comas Dec 10, 2023

Meta has a near monopoly on a niche business that they cynically bought themselves into by burning 10s of billions of dollars. A market that still struggles with anemic growth and isn't anywhere near turning a profit anytime soon. Is that how low the bar for "successful" has been set these days? Zuck can buy all the studios he wants, develop the most sophisticated headsets and so on... but at the end of the day, if no one really wants what you're selling, does any of that matter?

Meta chat2 Dec 10, 2023

Wondering where folks made up the tens of billions from lol?

Block Tres_Comas Dec 10, 2023

Facebook bought Oculus in 2014 for 2 billion. 9 years later with a massive work force in R&D, platform, software, marketing, other acquisitions,.etc... plus their public quarterly financials... The "Reality Labs" division has documented almost 31B in losses (after revenue) just between 2019 and 2022 alone.

If meta quest3 gives good experience, i am just imagining what would Apple Vision Pro would do.

Meta chat2 Dec 10, 2023

Hopefully at least slightly better. The visuals should be better but worried they went with a cord and no controllers.

Grafana Labs pati44 Dec 10, 2023

you cannot play vr games on apple vision pro

Gameplay looks shit. They ain't selling this shit to me, wake me up when they get Elder scrolls on VR set. Who plays Wrath?

Grafana Labs pati44 Dec 10, 2023

You can play skyrim in VR. But you need a computer.

Grafana Labs pati44 Dec 10, 2023

That tech exist since years. Actually pc vr was already way more advanced 5 years ago. But VR is still niche. Also what is metaverse for you? A bunch of VR games?

old tech rebranded bro which is what SpaceX does

Bectran trsh_cmpny Dec 10, 2023

Meta can keep spending billions on their hardware, I'm still not going to buy anything with their name attached to it even after they changed it from Facebook, this company is run by a special breed of assholes who do not give a shit about people's privacy at all, and as far as I remember you are required to link your oculus to your Facebook account just to use it, screw that, there's other companies in the VR space if I actually want to get one and I mostly don't want to get one cause it's a one trick pony as of now and wearing something that big and heavy on my head for long periods of time give me headaches
