I had a call with one recruiter yesterday who told me about the role and everything. I was sure that everything was good since the profile was a close match to mine. But later she asked me about my visa status and told me its just for green card or US citizens. I mean, wtf? TC: 285K Yoe: 4
Damn, really?
Its only for First time h1bs
You mean they hire people on their first H1Bs only?
They are not sponsoring for first time h1bs, if you already got it , they are accepting, thats what i heard
Is it Federal projects?
Maybe needed clearance? what was the job?
Research engineer in reality labs
My guess is there are some export control issues with it.
What ? This under Biden administration?! Oh so Biden is opposing immigrants.
This guy think Biden is the CEO of Meta
Biden is only opposing legal immigrants
Google is moving to Mexico, Ireland and India because of cheap cost of labor. Why they should sponsor a visa in US, when they can pay the same workers in their country of origin at 1/4 of the cost? Same for Meta
I was laid off was on H1-B, transitioned to B-1 they said they are fine.. people make so much shit up here.. Remind me never to trust Blind.. Such a shitty place, people make so much shit up here without knowing the whole picture..
Glad it worked out for you. Sadly didnt work out for the position i was reached for.
How did you work with B-1? Itâs tourist visa
DO YOU HAVE A H1B??? Or are you just bluffing or maybe misunderstood the recruiter? Iâm asking because people here are too dumbđ
Yes i have h1b. No i did not misunderstand recruiter as i asked her twice about it again. Wont make this up as i was genuinely interested in this position. Maybe people are too dumb to make this into something else.
I donât believe you! Prove it!
Maybe they think there are qualified US workers that have or will apply for the position.
Why would they deliberately restrict candidate pool by not accepting H1Bs? This is not economically efficient behavior, leads to lower competition, which always leads to lower quality outcomes. Meta can afford to pay for H1B so strictly rationally they should assess whether OP is better than other US candidates by the margin greater than the cost of sponsoring H1B. Presence of qualified US candidates has nothing to do with it.
So, a. The whole point of the H1B program is to allow temporary foreign workers to come in when qualified US workers cannot be found. Obviously, if there are qualified US workers, then thereâs no need for temporary foreign workers. B. H1B dependent companies, of which it appears Meta is one, have certain additional protections for US workers enforced, according to the Department of Labor âAdditional Labor Condition Statements for H-1B Dependent and/or Willful Violator Employers (contâd): âRecruitment: Employer will make good faith efforts to recruit U.S. workers âEmployer will offer the job to an equally or better qualified U.S. applicant (enforced by Department of Justice)â So, yes, the presence of qualified US workers does matter. https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WHD/legacy/files/H1BPrsnt.ppt
