I am L4 SWE 8 yoe at Google with TC of 300k. I have a really good WLB and the reason I want to leave is because the projects were not big enough to get me to L5 and even if I get promoted now, TC increase will not be immediate. Until now, all the projects were smaller scope and seemed like our team wasn’t getting big project. I’m finally working on a project that is beefy enough to take me to L5 within a year. I got an offer from Meta for E5 Base: 220k Equity: 800k (200k per year) Bonus: 15% Sign on: 50k This means the first year TC around 470k My main concern is the WLB because we plan to have our second child soon and we have no family support, so more time with family is very valuable. I hear horror stories about WLB at Meta. How bad is it really? I want to hear from those who experienced both Google and Meta.
Take the offer and use some of the money to hire people help on housework/child care
Go for it. That’s a good jump
How were the interviews? I’m in a similar situation. Will have to start preparing soon.
Standard. 2 coding 1 sys design 1 behavior
is the 2 coding after the initial coding screen? I.e. you do the screen (they told me it is basically solve 2 LC medium in 35mins), then 2 more coding etc each time a hiring manager selects you as a candidate from team match pool?
Location? Also are you planning to stay at Meta long term or jump using the E5 title?
450+ tc. Great offer.
@op congrats! curious to know what made you study and prep for interviews at meta when you knew there is a possibility you could just reject their offer?
Good offer. Did you have competing offers? This is $10k biweekly, post tax before retirement vehicles.
Take meta for sure. Which team did you match with?
i’d take it. What’s your yoe?
