Worked at both places in multiple teams and I can confidently say that Meta overall has bad WLB in comparison to Amazon. But Meta WLB in self-inflicted. Its like finance industry, the higher your deliverables are, the bigger is your compensation. The biggest rating bucket at Meta is actually Exceeds (not Meets). People put up 50-60% just to get that 25% extra compensation (which is huge). People also get lucky with Greatly Exceeds (Amazon equivalent of TT) where the extra compensation is 65%. It is really common that once you get GE, you will continue to work hard to get that extra comp. Amazon has no incentive for people to work extra hard, as the bump is just 2-5%. The top tier bump is also heavily capped. If PIP is removed, Amazon will become very similar to Microsoft. I also suggest don't join Meta if you are not passionate about work. You will get burn out very quickly as your peers are not going to slow down.
