Amazon L5 equivalent in Financial Services
Currently 2 years at AWS as a DS, L5 and 8 years YOE. Want to go back to financial industry, either JP Morgan or Synchrony. Now got an offer with Synchrony, a little bit less in salary but not much, significantly better WLB, and nice people. Had enough with Amazon! I want to know grade 12 VP is an equivalent for L5. I saw it says director level in LinkedIn, but don’t think 12 is a D level role. TC: 220k YOE: 8 #synchrony #amazon
VP is about right for 8 yoe and L5 at Amazon. Director at JPM would be something like L7 at Amazon
Vp are sde 2 in banks … After that director level, After that… MD( very difficult to reach that level in banks)
VP is a very wide level in banks. It encompasses L5 + L6 of Amazon at least, maybe even a bit of L7. Its normal for people to stay at VP for 7-8 years, and the comp between 2 VPs can easily vary by 2x or more.
I think you are lowballed for DS at Amazon for L5
If it doesn’t pay as much as Amazon then it’s a lower level role. That’s the only way to compare the two.
