Her education background is third rate (Bard College and USC MBA). She founded a single “robotics” company that basically put tablets on top of a Segway. No wonder it shuttered after three years. She married Joseph Gordon Levitt tho—gotta hand it to her there. Besides that, what accomplishments qualified her to join the board of OpenAI?
Her main qualification that OpenAI values is that she's a prominent and respected member in the Effective Altruism community.
Hey that’s not third rate that’s second rate
My guess is she and Toner were brought in for their "experience" in AI safety/policy and their political connections, not for their technical background.
It's the hustle these people do.

What is your background? Let us know ? We will give verdict about whether it’s acceptable or third rated
Happy to share. Ivy League B.S. (double major) - magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi Interned at multiple FAANG (including SpaceX) Currently working at a top pre-IPO startup in SF. TC is >250k.
Most people will give pass to ivy league schools for career in tech/ CS degree. Even Georgia tech, USC and UIUC are better than all those ivy league’s specially for CS. So, your background is not that great for tech.
You should do some more background reading on the origin of OpenAI. From the beginning, OpenAI has been closely tied to the Effective Altruism movement. As the cofounder and CEO, Sam Altman is responsible for these close EA ties and the overall OpenAI culture. Tasha McCauley's primary qualification is that she's a respected and established member of the EA community.
Effective altruism movement and of course, they add some diversity in that group - in other words, women. Should have chosen Kara Fischer or something, who has some solid experience. SMH
What did many of these people do? Sam is a college drop out (albeit a good school) and founded a string of not so successful companies before OpenAI
