Alright everyone I’m just venting about my situation. Ever since a few people left our org my manager has become much more of a micro manager while blaming it all on me. I had a design document and during a meeting he said it’s not up to his expectations and that I should redo it. However, I’ve had design docs before and he never acted this way. Now he literally made updates to the doc and how he thinks it should be done. Afterwards, I asked him for design specs or what he expects but he never gave specifics. He just says that it’s not good enough. In a pull request he didnt like one of the classes I had and then he spent two 1:1s explaining why it’s bad. Any reasoning or response I had was shutdown with “you should know”. Does check ups on me 3x a day to see my progress. Anything I say is criticized with you should be done by now. Feels like he’s building a case to pip, while disguising it as a way to “improve me”. He gave examples of other engineers but they didnt do anything special, he must like them more or something. Most of the managers I’ve had here do this, that’s just the Apple way I’m afraid. You can try switching teams, but in my experience it’s the same for a lot of teams

Maybe things have changed, but I was part of a mass exodus from part of IS&T at the end of 2019 around the time this was posted, at which time Eddy Cues org included IS&T. Pretty sure it Eddy controls multiple sub orgs so there could’ve been other mass exodus but the guy we left was def a micro manager
He's feeling the pressure from people leaving the team. It reflects bad on him as a manager and hes likely micromanaging you as a result. Team change or get out. He'll take you down with him if he gets forced out too
