I applied for Principal EM role at MS in Dec and went through loop. Couple weeks ago recruiter communicated that, while I didn’t got this particular job but they have put me in talent plus pool. Recruiter sounded positive and mentioned I may be considered for similar roles by other HMs and may not even have to go through full interview again. Since then recruiter went silent (this was before the big news came out of MS). Does anyone has similar experience and/or knowledge and can share details on how this process works in MS? Assuming I still have to apply for other jobs in MS to be considered, any HM here hiring for similar role? Thanks #microsoft #tech
The timing might have something to do with it with layoffs going on as you mentioned. And Microsoft is notoriously slow in decision making.
It might be possible that recruiter himself is laid off.

Talent plus pool is somewhat useful but never heard of senior or principal being hired through it.
Same thing happened to me last week. After loop interview they put me on Talent plus pool and ask me share other jobs that might similar to this but after that HR ghosted me.
