I have a verbal offer for Redmond(relocation needed), but want to work remotely/locally at a satellite R&D office and was wondering if I can ask my recruiter for a team switch ? Offer not signed yet YOE: 1 Microsoft Level: 60 #microsoftcareers #remotework #microsoftemployees #microsofthiring
I don't know if a procedure, you got hired by that team, it's not like Google where it's like a general bar and they place you
Can I still ask the recruiter to see if any other team might be interested in my profile and ask for a switch?
Idk. Could hurt you if it gets back to your team. Also you're entry level so it's not like you have anything to offer that would get other teams interested. I would just take the offer man
This isn’t so much a “team switch” If you interviewed specifically for the position and the offer isn’t a good fit for you. Tell the recruiter why this offer isn’t a great match, turn it down, then interview for something else that fits you.
This is the worst advice ever. Don’t do this
How so? I’m an experience HM at MS. If somebody interviewed for an position knowing that relo is required, then relo is required. If you can’t relo, then the position isn’t a perfect to you. Don’t accept it. There are plenty of tech companies at Reston / Alexandria area. Recruiters aren’t hiring managers - they can’t “switch” you to another team lol. You’ll need another HM wanting you to be on their team. But hey, you do you.
Hey OP, can you share your experience about the interview? I have received the online assessment and know how to go about preparing for it. I’m going through leetcode questions atm. TIA.
Hi, interviews were very standard, 3 LC mediums with a lot of follow ups and open ended discussion and one LC hard
You won’t be able to switch. The reality is no team will be interested right now except for the one that hired you. Your best bet is to accept that offer and move to another team another time. Accept the offer
Doubt
Why so? What is the procedure like ?
