https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/9/23631912/microsoft-bing-100-million-daily-active-users-milestone "Microsoft’s Bing search engine has passed the 100 million daily active users milestone just weeks after the software maker launched its AI-powered Bing Chat feature. Bing has been steadily growing in recent years, but it appears the new Bing Chat feature is helping Microsoft grow usage with people that have never touched Bing before. Google has more than 1 billion daily active users, so that puts Microsoft’s 100 million milestone in perspective as it seeks to gain market share. “We are pleased to share that after a number of years of steady progress, and with a little bit of a boost from the million plus new Bing preview users, we have crossed 100 million daily active users of Bing,” says Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s head of consumer marketing, in a blog post."
Bing hasn’t gotten better, Google has just gotten much worse.
Okay I think same with fb and instagram
Fully agree with both of you
Nooglers still going to be in denial
(x) doubt Me and most nooglers I know are unhappy here, but staying due to lack of better alternatives in the current market. It‘s the lifers that are in denial and think google is the infallible holy grail.
Why are you unhappy?
Only 1 million of those are from Bing Open AI stuff. It is also to be seen what the retention and monetization like for those users. Too early to call it share from Google
This. Everything has a hype bubble period. I donno why they are deluding themeselves with number only go up hopium
All signs point to big trouble ahead for google; however, Jim Cramer says google is finished so I’m expecting them to turn it around
I wouldn‘t go this far because there‘s more than search, and while ads revenue may go down, it won‘t be gone overnight. What‘s gonna be interesting is the monetization strategy of ChatGPT. AFAIK its infrastructure is expensive to run, hence either margins are super low or new monetization models will emerge. I‘m excited for the latter.
"Microsoft Edge has also helped contribute to Bing usage, as Microsoft aggressively pushes its search engine defaults with Edge updates, Windows updates, and even prompts to stop people downloading Google Chrome. “We expect new capabilities, like having Bing search and create in the Edge sidebar, will bolster further growth,” says Mehdi." Sounds like another round of anti-trust allegations are inbound.
God Edge is so fucking trash even with chromium
Says the Google employee….
Tried Bing, made me realize how good Google search actually is.
Worked for both bing and Google ... It was always hilarious that bing was considered even close to Google
No matter how successful microsoft does, microsoft employees will get half of industry pay across all levels. Its better to buy their stocks than be an employee of
Does this make LinkedIn the golden goose? Fairly high pay/TC and the RSU are all Microsoft stocks.
Yes linkedin is good but questionable wlb and career growth. I think its better than google though. It has better food
So basically new people getting into the hype and trying to check out what chatGPT is all about? The hype might die soon. So "Microsoft" of not looking at the future and getting happy with short sighted stuff.
Time to short google?
