Microsoft Comp

L5 looking to make a transition soon. 1. Is Microsoft hiring? Which orgs outside of AI? 2. What level should I be targeting if I am a newly minted L5? 3. What is the expected comp band? Is levels.fyi accurate? 4. Is it remote first by default?

1. Microsoft is hiring 2: they go by yoe not current level so if you have 5 yoe or less you will be under lvl 62 3: levels is accurate expect 40% less comp than Uber 4: there is no remote at Microsoft anymore

4 totally not accurate. If the job req says remote it is remote. They are not going to bamboozle you into an office

Amazon kgdrijdroo Mar 6

No raises last year. Who would move there?

Amazon babajoos Mar 6

Yeah, should come to Amazon. 2.7% raise

Amazon kgdrijdroo Mar 6

I know someone at msft and there's a rumor that there's nothing this year either. I'm not hearing if any COL adjustments that keep up with inflation.

Microsoft p4n44 Mar 6

From Uber your YOE doesn’t matter. They’ll give you a high level to match your comp.

Is this true if you come from other Faangs/large tech cos?

ex-Toptal nhUm46 Mar 6

Not true

Salesforce ragaismad Mar 6

You will be paid 50% of your current comp or maybe even less

Is LinkedIn still treated like a completely different org with different pay structures & hiring policies?

Microsoft p4n44 Mar 6

Yes

Uber altoids 👾 OP Mar 6

Got it. Most LinkedIn posts seem to be in the Bay Area. None in Seattle / nyc eh?

Microsoft spoiledev Mar 7

Its rare for high tc employees to come to msft at same level. They will likey uplevel you to match compensation expectations. Whether you want to join in an elevated level is your decision.
