For Contract roles at Microsoft, is it likely you will be brought on full-time afterwards or find another opportunity once you are in?
Heard the max time is to stay in contract for 18 month and have to have cool down period of x month. I don’t know anyone covert successfully
Cool down period is 6 months. So have to find something outside for 6 months and then come back
Depends on your manager. My manager asked me if I was interested in FTE while I still had 6 months left for my contract and said not to worry about clause in my contract.
So after your contract you just continued?
I left my contract and joined as FTE.
I know one person who did…don’t think it’s necessarily common though
I just joined Microsoft as a contractor a month ago. Think every team is different but we were basically told if we understand the project well then they are looking to bring ppl on as FTEs. Essentially it’s like tryouts (for this particular team).
Wanted to provide an update here. Still a contractor currently (started in March 2022). Lot of budget cuts happening and vendors are the first to go. The recruiter told me in March they were funded for 18 months but as time goes I’m realizing the recruiter is just a salesman. Currently im stressed about budgets as we head into a recession (id argue we are already in one) and you see a lot of tech companies slowing down on hiring and cutting back. Not sure how long I have job security.
Left a full time job for this opportunity. Learned a lot in the past 6 months but this was a hard trade off. Thought I was good for 18months!
@labouche.. was the vendor company called WMI?
It was TekSystems. Always ask the vendor company for more $ than what they initially offer.
No and No
