Microsoft DAY-1 CPT

Microsoft recruiter contacted me about a Software Engineer 2 position. I'm in my final year of STEM-OPT and have one last opportunity for the H1 lottery. I am planning to apply for DAY1 CPT as a backup. If I pass the interview: 1. Can I receive an offer from Microsoft's immigration team if I mention that I can continue working if my h1 lottery gets rejected since I have DAY-1 CPT? 2. Is it right to apply for DAY-1 CPT? #Microsoft #Day1CPT #softwareengineer #immigration

Day 1 CPT is illegal

lol stop making a fool out of people. It is not illegal. Permission for CPT is with the college - if they allow it, you can do itπŸ˜ƒ

I have checked it on several sources and it is said it is legal as long as you are doing it in right college

Microsoft should ship you to Canada temporarily. That's a less headache option than Day_1 cpt imo

Temporary till I get a H1?

They can file an L1 and bring you to the states and then keep you in the h1 pool. Negotiate these things once there's offer

USCIS has a rule that you cannot apply for CPT unless you complete 2 semesters or 9 months in the college. Also any international student who is not living within 50miles of college or not taking atleast 3 in-person classes are considered illegal and their SEVIS can be cancelled any time.

If that's the case I wonder why it's called Day 1 CPT, can you give more info please

That’s true for CPT during your first Masters. Day1CPT is different compared to a regular CPT

I have not heard of MSFT supporting day 1 cpt. They usually send people to vancouver. Make sure recruiter knows about 1 year left on StEM and when you get offer, also make sure HM knows.
