Microsoft Hiring Event Rejection because of Corona Virus?

I appeared for a Microsoft Hiring Event Online Assessment for a Software Developer position in their Azure Business Unit around couple of weeks ago. The test went smoothly, if was 2 leetcode easy questions and a debugging question. I was expecting to hear back from recruiter but after 2 weeks of no communication I received an automated email saying they are not moving foward with my application, Is it something that could be because of corona virus? I was told that my onsite interview will be scheduled for 23rd march If I am clear the online assessment. Could it be because of the corona virus fuss that is going around since microsoft employees are working from Home in Redmond. Anyone in same boat as myself? Honestly, I dont mind getting the rejection or interview getting cancelled but the reason should be communicated rather than just sending an automated email. #microsoft #azure #microsofthiring #microsofthiringevent #coronavirus

Could be. MSFT, AMZN, GOOG, TWTR, FB employees are all WFH until the end of March. Most meetings/events where in-person interaction is expected have been cancelled.

Can’t speak for MS but we have rescheduled onsite interviews to interview remotely. 🦠 should never stop qualified candidates from joining. We are tech companies, there is always a way. Definitely ask your HR to reschedule.

I am talking to Amazon as well and recruiter has communicated to me that it will be a remote interview. Now its upto me if I want to appear for a remote interview or not. So I appreciate your recruiters being upfront about it.

Every onsite interview is now over VC

Does that holds true for hiring events as well?

Yes and unlike wfh which will likely end March 25 or before (hopefully) or evaluated at that time - the VC interviews is not a short term thing - microsoft has indefinitely planned VC - no on-sites (no end date on when in person starts)

Yeah it’s like that disaster movie when the temperature drops precipitously and everything froze in seconds.

Yeah, it was pretty good.
