Do we as Americans believe with conviction Innocent until proven guilty? If we do, and he wasn’t convicted of rape then there shouldn’t be sanctions against him period. Work in the same building, work on the same team - i don’t know why the lawyer is trying to make an issue when the male hasn’t been convicted. If we don’t believe in that - then sure, lock him up, but then we should never call out countries like China for human rights abuses. Which one do we want to be?
I don’t think you got the memo. When it comes to sexual harassment, rape, etc, men are guilty even if they are proven innocent. A woman’s word > man’s. If a man claims he was raped by a woman he needs proof, but a woman does not.
Wtf is wrong with you? A man needs to proof but a woman doesn’t? Do you have any idea the emotional toll a person goes through when they get raped?
What does she want the company to do? Seems like MS took appropriate steps to deal with the issue. If the victim still has a problem, he/she can take it to law enforcement. Until then, it's all he-said, she-said.
Unless you and I read different articles, the woman is not asking for anything. It is some 3rd person who is using her case for advancing their agenda.
The media these days...
These comments are pretty unbelievable...fairly cold-hearted to toss around terms like "feminazi" when discussing a young woman who reported being raped. Even if you think MS acted correctly, you can still have a little compassion.
There is compassion but people are annoyed that she's basically demanding the guy to be removed without anything being proven
^ exactly this, having a vagina does not entitle you to bypass proving your claim with evidence
I don’t know how this gets tied straight to the “internal company culture”. I have no reason to doubt that any of this happened but at the same time I feel like it’s a gross generalization. I work with some very amazing people both men and women. A few bad apples/assholes.
My old org at MS had several sexual harassment cases covered up by leadership. This is a pattern. They don’t care to do the right thing, they just don’t want bad PR.
Interesting use of language. "And despite the allegations against him, Microsoft also hired her accused rapist." Makes it sound like they think Microsoft shouldn't have hired him. It's almost like he's immediately guilty. I feel Bad for the girl... And I do think Microsoft should ensure they never work together. But until he is proven guilty, we must give him the benefit of the doubt.
Yea the language is pretty charged up. I sympathise with the woman as I don’t assume people do these kinds of things for some twisted satisfaction. But at the same time, you can’t call accused and rapist at the same time.
This is what I mean by "feminazis"
WTF. The incident happened outside of Microsoft. Microsoft is not police or government to take action on employees for all wrong doings of employees outside of Microsoft in a unofficial party that employees did on their own. If an employee violates traffic rule, Microsoft should take a action on him? If an employee #1 gets into a bar fight in unofficial gathering with another employee #2 and if the fault is on employee #1, Microsoft should take a action on him? WTF? Obviously not, right? why women expect company to take action in this case when the rape happened outside of Microsoft in an unofficial gathering? Why rape is an exception?
You’re using logic to argue with people who use emotion to go about the world. At best you can reason with them by getting down to their level and being the more oppressed victim. Don’t waste your time rolling in the dirt with the pigs.
IMO, even if it is proved that it's the guys fault, company should not take any action on him as long as it happened outside of Microsoft in an unofficial gathering. Let the law take its action. Don't ask corporates to be a police and government
Sure - it's not fair to fire someone because of an unproven allegation, but this situation still sucks. I've lived through sexual assault and attempted rape, and my heart goes out to this woman. And I work with some great men who are now worried that well-meaning jokes, hugs amongst friends, etc., will get them in trouble when they shouldn't. That's what hard about things right now - it's uncomfortable and there aren't easy answers. Name calling and saying women are always believed isn't the answer, though -- it may feel that way right now, but talk to anyone who has reported a rape or assault and they can tell you how women definitely aren't always believed (and are often blamed).
Had this been google the guy never would have been hired as an intern in the first place I heard the 2017 class were all females and transwomen
These blind allegations and public trials without evidence need to stop, wtf

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
Horrible if true but good on Microsoft for not appealing to feminazis and hiring the guy if he's good. Allegations don't mean anything unless proven.
