L2 Red hat, Boston: $110k base, 10% annual bonus, $10k sign on L1 MS, Redmond: $118k base, 10% annual bonus, $45k sign on, $130k RSU/4 I've been at Red Hat for a while, MS offer is the new and shiny one. 1. How are both when it comes to handling Corona? New employee at MS vs staying at Red Hat - any chance either one is at risk of layoffs? 2. What is team mobility like in MS? 3. Would a more senior role in Red Hat mean I can make progress in my career quicker there? I've been told it's anywhere between 1-2 years to get to L2 in MS. 4. Anything that I should be seriously concerned about with either? 2 YOE and grad, so leaning towards Red Hat because Openshift and L2, but is the $$ worth it? #offer #career #tech #microsoft #redhat
As an IBMer I can strongly advise you to get out of Red Hat.

I'm assuming by the numbers that you mean 59 or 60 at MS. You're basically trading RH for MS. Same level, essentially the same TC. Personally, I hop companies when I can get an significant raise .. otherwise, keep grinding. You're wasting a move here.
I'm making an intern to FT transition at RH, and I'm really happy I don't have to start from entry level. I'm not sure if the position at MS is L59 or L60, but it should be one of the two. Also not sure about screens/devices team at MS, whereas openshift is the place to be at RH
That's good context. Personally, I wouldn't join a devices team at MS. It isn't our focus.
