I am at Microsoft Level 61. Google is offering me L3. New grads also get L3 at Google, I feel my 4 years of experience doesn’t mean much. Should I join it or decline? Would it be a step down in career?
L3 is really low. It may be better to interview again in 6 months. Check www.levels.fyi
Well hate to break it to you, usually a Microsoft L61 doesn't stack up to an L4 at Google or L5 at Amazon. Promotions at Microsoft are easier and the quality of work isn't that great at Microsoft. I had a similar situation like you where I reached L61 in 2 years at Microsoft but only got L3 at Google. But if you are good, you should be able to make L4 in a year.
How much Google offer at L3 ? And which location ?

I've known people with 10 years of experience who got L3. It's pretty standard for anything less than 5 years. If you are at an L4 level you should be able to get promoted in a year.
^^ Someone has to be really dumb to accept a L3 offer after working at any half decent Company for 10 years. I haven’t seen even 1 such occurrence.
