What happens when most of your team is Indian?
I received a call from HR letting me know that they are interested in proceeding with an offer for a Senior SoC RTL design engineer in Portland. I got some initial numbers Base: 140K Sign-on: 25K Stocks: 115K/4 years Level: L63 I am currently based in the Bay Area and not sure if these are good numbers for Portland? These are initial numbers of course - but i expected TC to be much higher Current TC: ~200K (base + stocks + bonus) Current YoE: 9 #interview #semiconductor #offer #microsoft
Msft and other companies are paying really low for Portland location! I had an offer from Msft PDX too and I also thought itâs a lowball but apparently PDX offers seem to be lower than MSFT Redmond by 10-15% But negotiate well and having competitive offers help in negotiations else they donât budge much!
Thanks! I feel this is a pretty average offer as well. PDX should be more affordable than the Bay Area, but not sure if this offer is compelling enough to move.
Yeah push for higher signon and stock! I doubt theyâll budge much without competitive offer. 50K signon is doable. And May be ask for 200K stocks.
Stock and sign on are both low. I would expect at least 200k stocks and 50k sign on. Base is meh just due to Portland, but other figures should be higher for Sr.
You'd need a competing offer to push them, that said decent for Portland.
Thanks! It was fairly quick - I had my virtual onsite a few days before the long weekend break - and they got back to me today! (~9 days)
Even if you canât negotiate a better offer than this, what you have is a great salary for portland. Cost of living is so much better than the bay.
Lowball offer. Ask for $150k base and $150k RSU atleast
Congrats ! By chance , were you able to negotiate better numbers ?
Continuing working with the recruiter.. will update once I know..
congrats for the offer!
Yup better than what you are making in CA if you think about earnings/spending ratio
Try negotiate for L64. Do they have bonuses and what are their refreshers? Current TC looks better. Did you get CTR?
Thanks! I think the interviews went pretty well, so will try negotiating for a L64 No indication about bonuses and refreshers as yet - i have a follow up call with the recruiter tomorrow - hopefully will get those numbers! sorry, but what is CTR? :)
Sorry abt that I thought you are at Intel. CTR is critical talent retention đ
