Is Principal level pay at MS better than Google Staff level? Saw some interesting roles at MS at the Principal level, but levels.fyi shows pay would be lower than Staff at Google. Can anyone confirm? 450k TC
Google staff is better on a resume and for job_n+1, don't fall for Satya's smile.
Microsoft doesn’t pay more at any level or even level n+1 compared to google/meta. You don’t go to Microsoft for the money. You go there to rest and retire
Rest and vest at Msft is a myth.
Why so, all my friends at Microsoft pretty much are doing this. They don’t earn crazy high - but they definitely get a lot of rest and now that their stock has been doing well since a few years, it’s also made them money vesting
MSFT PE pay is lower than a lot of Amazon seniors too. At least at 65 and 66.
L67 is a PE too and it can probably match google staff pay. 65 and 66 cant.
Pretty sure MSFT SVPs only make google L4 pay
Really team dependent (@ both) even though Google will always beat on average on all fronts. However, some folks came from Google and never looked back. E.g., some principal offers coming from competitors had 1million to 1.5million stock grant.....that was when the stock was around 200 I think........so if Microsoft wants you bad, they will show it. I say just apply and see what you can get? Worst case, you got interview practice. Best case, you might even get partner or crazy principal offers like I put above
Msft can’t compete on pay at any level.
