Need help in deciding between the two offers. Atlassian wins on TC big time but Microsoft has a lot of brand value attached to it. Jumping right to the numbers. Atlassian Level P4 Team - Commerce Platform Base Pay - 36L Stocks/yr - 22L JB - None Relocation - None Perf Bonus - 10% of 36 = 3.6L Total ~ 62L Microsoft Level 61 Team - Bing Ads Base Pay - 27L Stocks/yr - 13L JB - None Relocation - 80K Perf Bonus - 20% of 27 = 5.4 L Total ~ 45L Current years of experience - 2.5 Current organization - Adobe Current CTC - 30L Now both of the offers are a significant jump from my current (at least that's how I feel). But joining Microsoft feels like a loss of ~20L per year which round bout was my fresher year salary lol. Another point, I want to explore ML related work and I feel Microsoft Ads really gives me an edge there because I doubt Atlassian and especially commerce platform in particular would have any of that. Another thing that is bothering me about Atlassian is the currently no office space in BLR. I'm looking forward to move to BLR in coming March or so, so that's another point. Any leads on how the specific teams are, how's the culture at both companies, and if I'm being low balled in Salary (especially in Microsoft) will be really appreciated. Plus I haven't heard about Atlassian a lot, is it a good company overall ? In India ? Looking forward to hearing each one of yours thoughts and suggestions.
I recently started working at Atlassian. It is shifting its bangalore office's location out of SEZ. So there will be an office sson but going to office might be optional. I work full remote from another city and that will be the case for most Atlassians.
Have they given any date till when you can work remotely
Also, i would highly recommend Atlassian for its culture and wlb. Those are excellent here and shouldnt be your concerns at all. Its a great company with popular products. Maybe you dont hear abt it much because its products are already very well established?
Hi @MwRH37, which team are you in ?
Wat was the interview process at atlassian

Go for Atlassian
I'd say go for Microsoft, not for just its brand value but solely cz of your interest area(ML) and as you are just 2.5yrs into your career. In case you pick another Engineering job now, it will get tricky to switch to ML based teams later.
Right that's so true. Thanks Google đ
Atlassian Interview Process - 1st round - pair coding. Simple question, but need to fully code it, run your onw test cases, debug if necessary. 2nd round - code a rate limiter on ide of your choice. 3rd round - design a newsfeed for confluence (popular confluence pages should be shown in every person's newsfeed). 4th round - Management (Leadership roles, conflict management etc) 5th round - Values (centered around 5 Atlassian values) IMO, Atlassian's process was really different from other companies. It wasn't DSA extensive. More focus was on being able to code what you know theoretically ; another focus was on knowledge of object oriented programming. For me, except for the design round, others were above average (what was told to me by the recruiter and what I gathered from interview feedback). Overall a really smooth process right since day 1 of interviewing to converting it into an offer!
I rejected msft before coming to Adobe. The tc difference was huge for me and so it is for u. Brand does not matter much. People in start up are doing crazy stuff. U just have to complete stupid jira stories. Why u wana work for big brand and old tech with less pay when u can have the opposite. The option is clear to u.
Bro Atlassian is better even if the tcs were same. Also Bing team is shit. You will have a lot of WLB but thereâs is literally no interesting work. There shouldnât even be a 1% confusion. Also Microsoftâs hiring bar has dropped so low. It feels like a government company.
How was the atlassian process?
+1
Just finished my on-site with them today, AMA.
