Dang, should have seen it coming I guess. Places like AT&T, Verizon, Tmo will just become resellers to amz, Microsoft, google. Not sure what the future will be at my place. #affirmednetworks #microsoft #5g #atnt #cisco #ericsson #nokia #att #tmobile #verizon #sprint
With AT&T using Affirmed extensively in 5G, it would be interesting. Brilliant move by Microsoft. I read it costed them less than 2 b. Did AT&T give away 4b to TMO about 9 years ago?
Yeah. Seriously waste of money with AT&T acquisitions. I wonder how much influence at&t partnering azure last year made an impact on this.
2 b for a 155m startup ? That would be a very good deal for startup employees atleast. Not sure what msft is gaining out of it.
Att is only at US at Mexico. Microsoft is a global company with power of Azure. With affirmed Microsoft will became leader in 5g for enterprises. All power in 5g goes either to Amazon or to Microsoft. Say goodbye to old telecom companies.
Hahaha what a joke. Now I can see how much you know about mobility networks if you believe telecom companies will disappear.
Is “affirmed networks” network service provider just like ATT and Verizon?
No. It’s a innovative vendors who beats Nokia, Cisco and E//.
They serve core network solutions to carriers like ATT, VzW, and others. Their market is niche but they hardly have any great competition apart from Nokia and Cisco.
What about rakuten in Japan guys ? They jumped from being the Japanese amazon to building a mobile network from scratch in japan that will be the size of sprint network. Doing it with 20 times less people to build and operate the network than a traditional SP requires. If GAFAM start investing this space, some people should get worried. I did not believe much in the 5G revolution until I see the GAFAM involved. The ATT or Verizon of this world are not going to revolutionize anything.
I don't know enough about rakuten. I recall they have a cloud but not sure how it compares to gcp, aws, azure. It doesn't need to have all the bells and whistles that american cloud providers have but just need to be able to virtualize and maintain their environment well. They'd definitely would be spending more than just using azure but it might be worth it for the.
Hi folks, exploring new roles in Product Management. All my experience has been with Telco providers. Can anyone please refer me in their company. My company is going through massive layoffs and need to secure something soon. Your help will be highly appreciated 🙏
Lmao
No worries, big corps pivot business all the times (even IBM). Let’s hope HBO MAX will make AT&T great again ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Microsoft corporate development is underrated. They make very savvy acquisitions.
Obviously Telcos are playing just real-estate game to Clouds. I don't see Telcos have much chance
Yep. It sure feels like it.
