Looks like Microsoft accidentally leaked how much azure sucks.. for all their pr antics, azure is still shit lol https://www.theinformation.com/articles/microsofts-cloud-server-business-in-2022-was-less-than-half-of-aws-new-document-reveals?rc=jucogf
Less than half is not bad. Is GCP better?
Google cloud revenue is close to 30b.. That is course includes gsuite and gcp. Azure revenue is 34b as per this report. Gcp is.growing much faster than azure, so they are very comparable in size. But the belief in Wall St and marketplace is that azure is much bigger than Google, which is basically Microsoft PR with their media hacks
Well I like Go… so good luck y’all at GCP
My relative has a company X where they get mysql database user company A details with point of contact and phone numbers from Microsoft. If the company A is moved from on-premises to Azure by this company X, they get paid a lot and company A gets 3 years of free cloud services. There are 2 major problems here. 1. Its violation of trust to share company A’s details to company X by Microsoft. 2. 3 years of free service and the money paid to company X are not reported anywhere. Company X is found by senior managers from Microsoft who is my close relative. He says there are 100s of such companies and Azure only survives because of them.
Yes also a kid of shady contacts where they give you a discount for word with azure etc to pump up the cloud numbers
This is just channel sales. Nothing out of the ordinary. Helps companies scale. Typically company x is either getting rebates from MS or reseller Azure at a markup and pocketing the margin. This is very normal business practices and the revenue is absolutely recognized.
Old click bait news Sherlock. GCP sucks. Markets gives no sh!t. Bye
It's today's news numb nuts.
Cap. I literally live in our Azure consumption reports for the largest enterprise customers like 4-6 hrs of the day, slowly but surely more people moving off of AWS for azure. We have our share of shitty services and outages but growth and numbers are legit. Tons of cost conscious start ups choosing azure too.
Nothing screams selection bias more than reading your own Kool aid and preaching it lol
I’m literally jumping to Snowflake in 3 weeks, was just waiting for July 1 so I could get my bonus… no point in me drinking my own Kool aid, I’m literally telling you based on the numbers I dig deep into all day long. Especially with this AI hype, many customers who never even talked to us are spending 6-7 figures a month on Azure AI/Cogs services.
Azure != Cloud. M365 etc are also part of it as detailed in the earnings. This article is just a sensationalism effort. 2014 MSFT revenue = $86bn. 2023 = ~$200bn. Where the hell did all this come from? https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/MSFT/microsoft/revenue
Riight, you have a 10 percent annual growth rate due last 9 years but your pe reflects a 20 to 30 percent expected growth. That's the scam
WTF are you talking? If people decided to value it at that level how is MSFT making a scam here?
They hate us cause they ain't us

OP if you're including gsuite in your calculations, then you need to include M365, which means your about 70 billion behind. Nice try with the copium, though.
That's a fair point and I don't know the relative size of gcp and gsuite. But I can't imagine gsuite to be more than 10b arr, it's probably 100 dollars per user annuallyand 10b is like 100m users which is extraordinary high. My point was gcp and azure are in same ballpark
Lot of people seem to be missing the point here, before this report lot of wall st firm estimated azure revenue to be in range on $37B to $42B, which it is not . so a downgrade is possible
Worked on Azure core and now in GCP. GCP is shit and immature in comparison. Msft atleast has a much better sales team. We were closing deals back to back while in GCP things move at snails pace. Sure some core services in GCP are of slightly better quality but we take 2 years to GA a service while AWS & Azure does it in 6 months and lock in ton of customers. They iterate adding features in parallel. Every start up works this way too. GCP engineering and sales model is old school. This is the reason we might end up as next IBM. It’s frustrating but I don’t have power to change that.
“Shit and immature” is a lot of exaggeration for 2023. This year everything is moving freaking fast.
Your experience and revenue growth seem incongruent
