I applied to Microsoft 3 different times this year and my resume is not even getting picked! I am in FAANG and due to RTO situation, need to leave. I always have had fascination about MS and genuinely applied to roles, that I think are good fit! It's super frustrating! Any insights on how do I proceed? Will they not check my resume for future openings since they rejected me thrice?
I haven’t met anyone inside or outside who understands why our recruiting is like this. Even internally people get ghosted. A lot of Msft recruiters were laid off and hiring managers are extremely busy. You need to somehow get lucky. It’s also possible Msft thinks your tc is too high. If you notice carefully a lot of recent offers on blind are being rejected due to low tc
It’s the first point. Recruiting sucks at Microsoft even for referrals. Not sure why. Best way is to have someone that knows you reach out to the HM
With that insanity it’s a wonder you guys hire anyone. I usually go through so many interviews before we get one candidate through.
I've never gotten any messages from Microsoft, and they auto reject my resume. Have had recruiters contact me / interviews with all others. I think they may only target specific geos.
I don’t get that many reach outs from recruiters. Are you still at Capital one?
Still there. Don't expect reach outs now. I'm talking pre May 2022. Only FAANG that reaches out is now Amazon, and I didn't hear anything from them between October 2022 and September 2023.
All positions advertised need not be real positions.
Really? Why is that? They do it for applying GC posting?
GC posting, to create an illusion they are doing great and confuse competition, pre arranged ads, business relations, etc
3 times is not enough. Expect to apply to 50+ postings. Every posting is a new application. Hiring managers and recruiters have no idea what else you have applied to.
I applied to 10 positions internally and almost never heard back. This is how Microsoft recruiting works.
Same here, applied externally more than 20 times in last one year, not even one response from hiring team. Can you refer me
No, read my answer. Microsoft HRs don’t answer me as well 😀
3 times? Bruh I’ve applied over 100
MS pays 🥜🥜🥜🥜 anyway
That 🥜 looking tasty when you're used to crumbs from a 🥜.
Facts. I may make peanuts now, but it more than doubled my comp too moving to Microsoft
Even internal applicants don't get lucky for a role just after 3 tries! You need to keep trying if you don't know someone who knows the HM and do a referral. A standard employee referral also has less chance of getting picked, the referring person needs to know you and the HM. The only way without a strong referral is to keep trying. 3 is not the number it has to be at least double digits.
As a hiring manager, it's still a mystery to me what recruiters are busy at all day. They just seem to do nothing but block offer escalation.

If you don’t have a strong referral, your resume might get lost in the pile of other resumes.
I understand referral, what does string referral mean?
Whoever refers you should ping the HM on teams with positive words. That said, i kind if disagree, in my experience referrals dont matter here
