So many layoffs and now they gave every openAI employee a position, thats crazy. Its beyond foolishness. I am a microsoft stockholder so I want it to do well, but in reality its a shame. https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-employees-fume-promise-hire-openai-2023-11
What is wrong if Microsoft considers OpenAI engineers more valuable than average Microsoft’s SDE or QA?
Employees think they are the shareholders because they have a few RSUs. 😆
@oracle - RSUs vest into actual shares - at that point they are, by definition, shareholders.
Satya saw that OpenAI might implode so he tried to save his $ss by spending other people’s (shareholders) money.
It's all about ROI. There's nothing as loyalty from a company to employee these days. They will lay you off for short term gains. Leverage is the key in any such transactional relationship.
This. Sadly most employees don't understand this.
They will layoff a long term employee for just q minimal quarterly gain these days. It's the sad truth. Try to create leverage somehow.
Satya will try throw his mother under a bus for more stock. He couldn't care less about employees without any leverage. Let them eat peanuts!
A terrible company does terrible things. Hostility towards tech workers take multiple forms, and this is one way that it’s done. And then you wonder why employee turnover is so high. TC: 105K
We ARE worth more than Microsoft engineers. Not all engineers are valued equally.
Those are the engineers that built the Infra that you are running on. Have some humility. They may not have Ivy league degrees to show off and get into cozy tech clubs like you. But they are in no way inferior. Given the same opportunity, they might do better than you.
Why do you think existing microsoft employees dont have Ivy league degrees? You think a company worth 2.5T+ was built by bootcamp outputs or consultants? Lol. Its a big company, so obviously there is a wide wide range. But there is no dearth of ultra smart, ivy league, highly competent ICs at Microsoft.
Imagine thinking leetcoders are as valuable as openai engineers
Instead of fuming they need to focus on gitting gud
Microsoft engineers haven't even been tier 1 engineers at Microsoft for a while now. LinkedIn was among the top for a while but now OpenAI is the new top dog. Nothing will change though...
Same for Benioff and Salesforce
LOL, I saw this too.
