I had an on-site with Microsoft 5 weeks ago. I know 3 people that were rejected for the same role; one of them also had an on-site. My status on the Action Center still shows ‘interviewed’. I called the recruiter yesterday and they told me they were let go last week. They said I’ve been picked for the position pending VP approval but there’s a hiring freeze. Do I still have any hope of receiving an offer given that it’s been long I interviewed? Folks, I would appreciate your insights. TC: $210k
Person I know there says they are still hiring but in a *very* limited way. Most reqs on hold. But they do have a ready to hire list they will pull from as they can.
Would anyone be able to weigh in on what they've heard about how recruiters or hiring teams plan on tackling the "to hire" list once this happens? Any idea when this might happen?
Very less hiring currently. I would keep thin hopes. Maybe when the headcount opens, they’ll reach out and ask you about moving forward.
My team has open headcount, but we haven’t even done an internal transfer since last FY. There is definitely hiring, but only direct reports to VPs and above that I’ve seen lately.
I had my interview a couple of weeks ago too. My action center still says interviewed like yours, but they told me that I couldn’t move forward though. My sourcing recruiter told me that he would be let go by end of the month. It really sucks what’s been happening, but I’m just going to keep interviewing around if possible. Hoping for the best for all, but don’t know :/
Could you please clarify? Did they say you couldn’t move forward now or they are going to reject you? Thanks
Yeah, my bad. My recruiter called me and then told me that my coding wasn’t good enough, but everything else was good and to try again in a year. In my Action Center, under interview it shows my status as “scheduling”. I’m not gonna read too much into thinking about any “what-ifs”, but that they probably got lazy and haven’t changed my status to “not selected”. Good luck!
I’ll share my story with MSFT but I don’t know if it has relevance with yours. I interviewed three weeks ago. A half week later they told me I would get an offer. Terrified about the economy I pushed at every stage for things to go faster. Following up with recruiter, bugging HM when I saw a recruiter OOO message, etc. got my official offer on Monday, got thru background check in three days, and set a start date in November yesterday. Can yall wait to let our laid off folks get a chance 😂
I heard they are going to reopen this positions in early Jan'23.
I finished my interviews two weeks ago. Status updated to completed within 2 business days but still waiting to hear back the result. Super nervous about it as well as I am afraid of the hiring freeze as well. OP, would love to hear your update, best of luck!
Yours could be a role they consider critical. Please update us here if you hear anything from them
For sure will update and share :)! Good luck, everyone!

Wow the recruiter replied to you even after getting laid off. 😮
@General Motors A diamond in the rough.
I saved their number they used for the initial call before the on-site
