Microsoft internship team matching

I got and accepted an offer from Microsoft for an internship. I’m now wondering if there is any way for me to pivot my project search towards something research oriented which is involving AI and ML. As background, I’m still pursuing my bachelor’s, so no master neither Phd. But I have many prior experiences in research and applied machine learning. Experiences from 3 start ups. Thank you!

No, they will make you work on old c# code which has nothing to do with ml, Ai

Lol really. At least the cpp / csharp code I worked on goes straight to production

As an intern, you have pretty good mobility for future internships/return offer. The intern offer you already accepted is tied to some org. I think it should be signed by [recruiter], on behalf of [someone]. If you want to pm me, I can look up who that person is and what their org does.

Research positions are fundamentally different so their interviews and requirements. However it could be possible to work on the productionizing of ML model etc in Azure team. Or ML infrastructure projects

Hi OP, May I ask what was your interviewing process like? Did you have onsite interviews with a specific team? Or was it just phone/online interviews, after you pass them, you then wait for team match? Or do you get matched to a team first before there's even any interviews?

Phone interviews Coding challenges 4 onsite interviews The place you in an org after the interviews. The teams from the team match will be from that org (2 months before the start)
