I had on-site interview with Microsoft last week and the recruiter gave me the feedback yesterday through phone. She said ‘you had fantastic feedback, very great feedback but the team decided to move forward with another candidate.’ She went on to read the feedback, which was truly fantastic. I don’t know what else one can do to get a job at Microsoft. #Microsoft
Sometimes it's just a matter of another candidate having experience which is more closely aligned to what they want. Its frustrating, but let's keep trying, dont give up!
You applied to a specific role on a specific team. Just one opening. Try applying more broadly. You should be encouraged. You know you have what it takes.
This happened twice to me with msft. From the feedback, it seems I am a super star and team wants me so much, but .... Not sure if this just a normal trick to keep you connected, but assuming I am not the worst candidate :)
Also, these big companies have new, increased "DEI" quotas. Not saying it happened here, only to say if you are a white male, you aren't winning any tie breakers
Can you ask your recruiter to team match with other teams? I am pretty sure recruiters can network with other hiring managers in situations like this, but I can’t guarantee they will accept.
Maybe they had another candidate with more experience or an internal candudate was given preference. Happened with me a couple of times.
Had almost the same experiemce with google and paypal! Paypal told me that we had another candidate with more experience! Damn Bay area!
