Hi all, I have an offer from Microsoft to work remotely as an applied scientist L62-63 (not clear yet) The country is a high tax country like France Germany Spain Italy etc The offer is Annual base pay: 75 000€ On-Hire stocks (4 year vesting time): 120 000 USD Incentive plan: 0-30%, 15% being the midpoint (also how strong the performance has to be to get 15 or 30%?) It is just a bit higher than to my current salary, but lower than other remote offers I have. For example Huawei which is around 130K cash (no stocks) How do you consider this offer? TC 100K YOE 4.5 + PhD #microsoft #salary #negotiation #compensation #europe #msft #amazon #salaryComparison
0-30% with midpoint 15% is 63 not 62. For sure you can negotiate more on stocks. Don’t know about base as I am not from Europe
Makes sense, thanks. Any ball park Idea of where I can go with stocks? Also about incentive plan, how likely are those, would it be "easy" to get at least to the midpoint?
Not sure why you refer to as incentive plan, it’s just the yearly bonus. If you reach your goals you get midpoint, most people get midpoint every year unless they are really bad or really good
If it is L63 try pushing it higher. 200k might be doable
With 75k base, you are definitely at L62 (Germany) What’s the location, Munich?
They confirmed this is for l63 actually. Given that should I ask for more ?
All depends on location.
Hi, are you currently an Applied Scientist at Amazon?
Yep
Final offer Annual base pay: 75 000 € On-Hire stocks: 210 000 USD Sign-on Bonus: 18 000 € Car allowance: 7680€ annual (640€ monthly) Incentive plan: 0-30% (target is 15%)
Congratulations 🎉 . You got your stocks almost doubled. Great offer. Location? What’s the stock split across 4 years? 25:25:25:25?
In Europe you forgot the most basic info: which country? Bulgaria has 10% tax versus 42.5% in Germany. That counts a lot
Good point let's say a high tax country like France Germany Spain Italy etc
75k after tax in Germany is 3.7k a month. If you want to live in a big city like Berlin, Munich, or Hamburg you’ll be paying about 1300 for rent alone, leaning you 2.4K for everything else. If you’re single I can imagine you saving 1k a month.
