I was contacted by an HM from MS for a principal swe role in Azure ML SW stack. Companies like FB, G have standardized HC-based/technical hiring process, but companies like Apple have more team-centric/culture-fit process. I don't know the process at MS. The HM contacted directly for an initial chat without involving recruiter. Is it usual? What should I expect in the interviews incl kind of sessions of each type (coding, sys-design, domain-expertise, behavioral)? How are coding for Principal role compared to coding rounds at Fb/G? Does sys-design involve questions like "design twitter" etc? #interview
Lc medium coding, yes lots of system design questions. 1 behavioral intw
Is HM directly contacting usual at MS? It doesn't say interview, only a 30 min chat to discuss the role. One should expect coding/tech interview?
No, that call will be just introduction. Not uncommon for hiring manager to ping directly, happens if he is desperate or pissed with recruiters
I m a HM at MS. This happens and is OK. The call is informational.
can you comment on sessions questions in op for onsite? how is the interview process/structure? team-specific (you interview for a team, no hiring-committee bar), or is it standardized (interview for generic roles in company, hiring-committee approval etc)?
