Have seen Google, FB, Twitter and Pinterest doing cold calling or heard from friends too. Amazon recruiters are on gun point to hire L5 so they do it all the time. But Microsoft? Never seen Recruiters doing any cold calling. They don’t even screen candidates timely and in one of the instance I had a bad experience where she dropped after screening ( that too on email where she asked couple of questions) All I see them doing is posting on LinkedIn about WLB, Diversity and inclusion. Don’t slack MSFT recruiters. Do your work properly!
You trying to work there?
HR or recruiting? These two are different functions
They don’t have to. Amazon recruiters does cold calling and hires from everywhere. Guess where amazonians go after a year or so 😂
Because they are just chilling and attending events
They get the engineers they want from India (just like Amazon). Much cheaper and more efficient. Why not!
They just sit at the airport waiting on the flights from India and sign them up early.
I see!
Damn
Aren’t most of them third party?
Yes. That is the serious answer to this thread, the huge difference in quality between msft's and g/fb is that recruiters at g/FB are employees, whereas at Microsoft they are random third party contractors. It is night and day in terms of interviewing experience.
Look for their “Hiring Events”.
I’d rather get no call (Microsoft) than get cold called repeatedly with no follow-up (Amazon) 🍌➡️🗑
They do a lot of cold-calling on previous applicants for hiring events. I get emails about some hiring events every few weeks
