Pros: - positions microsoft behind sony and tencent in gaming - big play as a direct competitor to meta in metaverse - brings 400 million gamers onto microsoft platform Cons: - could get blocked by regulators - office culture issues at activision Thoughts?
Would use a msft metaverse over meta anyday.
Explain culture issues at activision?
It’s insane to think about what game franchises Microsoft has acquired in recent years. We have recently bought and now own (if the deal goes through) the IP’s for: • Call of Duty • Diablo • World of Warcraft • Starcraft • Crash Bandicoot • Guitar Hero • Tony Hawk Pro Skater • Fallout • Doom • Quake • Psychonauts • Elder Scrolls • Prey • Wolfenstein • Dishonored • Minecraft • Candy Crush Like holy shit. That’s in addition to all of the stuff we already owned like Halo, Forza, Fable, Gears, Perfect Dark, Age of Empires, Killer Instinct, Banjo-Kazooie, Battletoads, Conker, Viva Piñata, etc.
I was looking at the numbers and Candy Crush is insane. $1.1B in revenue and about $800M of that is profit.
You own COD now but your execs said COD will continue to be available on PlayStation.
