I’ve been at Amazon for a year. Amazon has 15 days vacation + 6 personal days = 21 days total for the second year. I got an offer from Microsoft with 15 days vacation + 2 personal days = 17 days total. Microsoft PTO looking kinda bad? Microsoft just has 5 extra sick days over Amazon. If I accept the Microsoft offer and boomerang back to Amazon, would my tenure be reset to 0? Current tc: 155k Microsoft offer: 200k
Microsoft PTO increases with tenure. Plus personal and sick days are 10. Also, days off policy in Microsoft is much relaxed that it is on file. Microsoft is >>> amazon any day at any level.
You are funny. Amazon PTO increases with tenure too. Excluding the sick leave, Microsoft PTO is worse. Amazon has 21 days (paid time off + floating holidays) while Microsoft has 17 days (paid vacation + personal day) on the first year. Sick leave is according to state, federal for amazon
I worked in both companies. I took all in all 6 months of paternity leave in Microsoft. I am still thankful to Microsoft benefits and my manager that allowed me to bond time with my baby. My manager adjusted my work load to honor my personal time off. I am sure in Amazon, I would have been piped a month after I would have announced about the baby.
I’m actually surprised MSFT’s PTO policy isn’t better. That said, you do get 9 national holidays, including Xmas eve and day after thanksgiving off, which I’m grateful for.
Sick days can be used for mental health time and are essentially also days off.
