Just joined msft. Got offer from Bloomberg. Still need to discuss tc. Thinking of job security/stability whether I should go to Bloomberg due to increased recession and layoff concerns and economy looking worse. Repost since other one had one confusing option. TC:170K
Bloomberg is not more recession proof than msft. Your point is moot. Microsoft is a better company for eng experience than Bloomberg but of course tc should be considered.
I think Bloomberg makes good money even when market tanks. That and Bloomberg not being public are probably what makes Bloomberg one of the safest companies to work for. Layoffs are also a company culture thing. Msft has always been sitting on mountains of cash. Yet they choose to layoff. We say that in last recession. Idk why it would be any different now.
Msft culture is very different from 13 years ago. The "layoffs is part of the culture" is nonsense.

Interviewing for both and I’m going to choose Bloomberg if I get an offer. The all cash offer and NYC location are very appealing to me. For my level SDE II comp seems a lot higher & will be nice to have title of Senior when I leave
