Microsoft vs Dropbox?

Title says it all. If comp / title is lateral, should i make the move from MSFT -> Dropbox.. Essentially trade unvested MSFT stock for Dropbox RSUs? Culture, people and ability to execute at Dropbox seemed great. Nothing negative to say there. All good from outside looking in. L64 at MSFT, rewards / reviews top notch. Insane politics and inability to execute anything within remotely reasonable time frames getting old fast.

What’s your Dropbox offer like? If it’s 1.5x of Microsoft , I’d move.

He's asking if comp/title are similar, should he move to DropBox.

OP sounds unhappy about politics and slowness so he really needs to move. I wouldn't take a lateral comp move for pre IPO equity. I'd get a competing offer from FANG and if Dropbox doesn't give 1.5x for preIPO equity I'd stick with FANG or check out a unicorn.

I mean, from a resume perspective Dropbox is a nice addition

Do you care about working in Seattle vs Eastside? That might be a bigger deal if comp is the same...

Microsoft majaboy Oct 14, 2017

Stupid move

Pretty easy decision, Dropbox carries lots more weights than your next job searching.

Good point on the resume addition.

How much stock are we talking about here?

They have a killer office in Seattle. 74th floor in Columbia tower.

Microsoft OCAmIEvil Oct 16, 2017

It is pretty amazing, but what are they doing there?

Microsoft Confesions Oct 16, 2017

Underperformers get put in a box and dropped out the window of the 74th floor. How do they think they came up with that name? Ruthless over there. Still better than some teams I've been on at Microsoft.

Seriously dude, none of the above.
