Is meta really worth the wait?
This will not end well. Seen it many times when companies have two competing orgs. Overlapping goals and competing with each other. For starters, they will compete with compute resources, which are already sky-high. Google had this problem with DeepMind and Brain, and had to merge them. Likewise with Maps and Waze. Microsoft doesn't have that option. Buying OpenAI is not an option. It's definitely a weird relationship that'll eventually catch up to them. TC 480 #microsoft #openai

How would it not end well for Microsoft? They would benefit from either division being successful. Mutual competition in an AI race where there will be one primary benefactor sounds exactly like what Microsoft wants with this move. Just cause Google shit the bed doesn’t mean Microsoft will.
