My boss called me up to say that I have received a mid-year raise to recognize my hard work and it is given to a few selected ones. It really boosted my morale. The workday reason for the raise says "market adjustment". Is it really my performance that paid off or is it just Market Adjustment and my boss is trying to make me feel better? How should I feel about it? Blind Tax- 220k Note: There was an option for "Merit pay increase". That was given at year end which was 2% š„. So there is an option and which is why it is making me feel not as great as I was when I got the call.
Your boss is manipulating you
They may not have worried about you leaving due to market pressures if they didn't value you. Porque no los dos?
There may not be an option in the system to just randomly say "mid year raise for awesome employees", ignore what it says in the letter. That may just be bureaucracy. I don't see what kind of a manager would lie about that

I still would not read too much into it. Literally could be whatever moron that does the coding of this stuff in workday punching in whatever they felt like on a given day.
Lol itās prob just a Workday thing. Donāt read too much into it. - corporate finance person who just helped raise comp for engineering
Very likely a workday thing. The person in HR had to pick a reason and this is probably the default or they havenāt setup a new change reason to closely match the merit increase
