Hello again folks. I am the creator of this original post: https://us.teamblind.com/s/OaY44xxK. While some of you thought this was a terrible idea, bad for the hardware industry etc., we have been conducting hardware interviews successfully and with positive feedback, particularly among folks preparing for interviews at companies like Apple and Nvidia. Anyways I am back here to say we listened to your major feedback on the price, and we have lowered our prices to a flat $79.99 for all our interviewers. Hopefully this is reasonable and something that works for more of you, but we are open to future adjustments based on feedback. Our intention really is to create a useful service here driven directly on community feedback. If you’re interested in trying a mock interview you can find the sign up form on https://chipdev.io. Also we are looking to expand our services — if you are an experienced hardware engineer with an interest in conducting interviews, we may be interested in working working with you. Reach us at contact@chipdev.io. #apple #nvidia #intel
Too expensive for 1hr
Seems like it, but after the interview quality feedback is another hour of work. At least they probably won't have to come up with the question. I'm guessing the site takes at least 25% of the $80, leaving only $60 for the interviewer. Seems like a decent deal for the interviewee, especially if it helps them land a high TC job.
Yes the problem is incentivizing high TC people to interview candidates. Maybe we can find some people willing to do this pro-bono but that seems… unlikely.
Crazy prices but perhaps than interviewing.io, and stupid overpriced boot camps
The questions page loads horribly on mobile and it looks like there is also a waveform viewer? I think that is super cool, but I have never actually seen an interview where you actually simulate your code. I would recommend shifting your business model to sell your site as a service to businesses interviewing hardware engineers, kind of like CoderPad. That way businesses can conduct interviews and have candidates run simulations and see waveforms. That would actually be pretty cool.
Thanks for the feedback. We’re also cognizant about there being other types of interviews and actively trying to build other interview functionality common in hardware. Also we actually implemented the idea you’re talking about: https://bithacker.io.
Nice work!
It’s a good idea and price seems reasonable. But, my concern is, 1/2 coding question would eat up 1hr, so how do you manage interview content so that it’s worth the price?
Thanks for the feedback. We use audio calling and some whiteboarding tools so there are other components besides RTL coding. Also our interviewers always coordinate with the mock interviewees to customize their interviews according to what the interviewee want to focus on.
I can help preparing for PD interview free.. DM me..
I can use chatgpt to help me practice interviews for free
That’s cool, what prompts do you use?
I worry that this will turn into leetcode type thing where more and more questions will be added over time with increasing difficulty at a point where companies will start asking these absurdly hard level questions from here similar to faang sw interviews.
I would say that’s a valid concern, but we’re merely giving people the tools to prepare, which many are already seeking out. Also I would say it is typical in almost every industry to practice using mock interviews.
No way I am going to pay $79.99 for the mock interviews.
