Modi is BJP's biggest liability now
BJP has invested too much brand in Modi and BJP has become an easy target in last 2 months. Like there are bhakts, there are now modi anti-bhakts in opposition. Modi is love or hate relation for India in many places (Delhi, Punjab, many parts of existing BJP strong holds). With this modi-shah gunpoint politics style with NDA allies, autocratic leadership within BJP, so much polarization, it is accumulating real fast. Modi is now so easy to target. Looks like this election cycle is the end of the Modi-wave and it'll get really interesting in third wave. 400 par has proven to be a war cry without a real basis on the ground. If BJP lands less than 272 this time, NDA allies and BJP leadership will have more leverage. Who do you think would be a better leader - more diplomatic and can unite NDA or INDIA better?

All exists because of one face, Annamalai might be good orator but can’t win his own election. Himanta is leader until Congress is not in center otherwise he has to change his loyalty to save his career. Yogi is not as popular as Modi, he can’t win Vidhan Saba seats next to his own constituency. It’s all about perception
