Monthly spending

Curious to learn what others are spending per month per family. Excluding housing and cars - what do you spend? My self - family of 5: about 5500-6500 per month (excluding daycare, housing and cars). Nothing fancy really - mostly its Costco, Trader Joe’s and amazon.

6.5m per month? wtf

Google ecarver Jan 12, 2019

How the fuck do you spend $6K per month just on groceries and shopping, cuz you are saying that number excludes daycare, housing and cars (probably the more expensive monthly expenditures). I'm afraid to ask how much you spend monthly including everything.

Family of 5. Costco trip alone is 350 per walk in. This includes internet, cell, Netflix, gas, food, cloth, house crap, etc. don’t even eat out.

4 Costco trips per month brings it to $1400. Netflix, bills, gas, etc can't be over a $1000. Where is the other $3000? Is your spouse looting you?

Asking out of genuine curiosity. Can you break down that 6.5k number? I mean really break it down. Above you mentioned: 1400 - Costco (all food?) 300 - Trader (all food?) 350 - Macy (what do you buy every month?) Electricity? Car insurance? Internet? Cell? Pizza? I can see 4K but 6.5k?

Amazon ;)01 OP Jan 12, 2019

Macy’s this month, target next month. I mean something gets bought every month. It’s food, water, snacks, all the household crap (shampoo, toilet paper, detergents, etc) Electricity+gas 250 Car insurance - 200 for two cars Cell -100 Amazon - cloths, pet crap, some household items. 750 Restaurant once per month -100 Few coffees - 100

You gotta put a lid on your expenses man...

Let me post my spreadsheet of expenses..

Netflix Ribosome Jan 12, 2019

Let me do the maths: Costco: I don’t know how you spend 1400$ a month, I have a comparable family but we only spend about 800$ at Costco. Let’s say 1k is food supplies. Car insurance: 300$ for two cars is considered high but let’s go with it. Internet: 100$ month fastest xfinity tier. Phone: t mobile unlimited 4 lines = 160$. Netflix + HBO: 30$. Throw in cable for you: 100$ more. Gas: 500$ a month. This totals about 2.2k. Let’s say you then spend 800 on shopping which is a lot - this is only 3k. How did u get to 6.5k ?

Netflix Ribosome Jan 12, 2019

Give another 500$ to utilities, 3.5k

Amazon Redux Jan 12, 2019

You only spend 800 a month on groceries for 5 people? or were you just counting only Costco? My wife and I have no kids, we spend 800 a month on groceries.

people are assuming spending too much, whithout knowing what goes into it There could be education, private school or college., Traveling expenses go quick on larger families.

Microsoft babaisyou Jan 12, 2019

That’s why we are asking for a complete breakdown. Op is not being completely open about the breakdown.
