If your team does daily standups, your manager is a micromanager
I have an offer from SoFi that I have accepted? The market conditions, offers being rescinded by CoinBase + layoffs at a few others are playing on my mind. How is the mood inside SoFi? Any concerns around potential downsizing and slide in stock value? Any insight is hugely appreciated. #sofi #layoff #engineering #software #swe #swe TC:230k New TC at SoFi: 400k
I’m also joining sofi soon and is in the same boat. Would love to get some internal insights.
Can you please share your TC and level?
Did you join? Thoughts on the company?
I regret coming here. But I’m also a miserable bastard so who knows lol Overall tho, mood is pretty down given the stock collapsing 70% since Q4. We’ve had a product person leading eng so there’s no direction and our shit is difficult to work with. Every team just does their own thing so anytime we want to make common changes across all our apps it’s a nightmare. We just announced a new CTO today so that kind of lifted spirits, who knows what changes it’ll bring tho. Also everyone seems to despise that we chose Flutter for our mobile app and how we’ve chosen to do the migration.
Thanks for this
Who’s the new CTO?
My friend worked there but wanted to leave...
All payment platforms are under stress. They are too many of them now unlike FAANG, better to avoid if u have options.
I also have an offer from SoFi for a Staff SWE position. I’m mainly looking to join to get the title bump and possibly a faster path to Engineering Mgmt. Also, they are paying really well right now. Any thoughts on this folks? YOE : 6 + masters
Right now is a great time to join and get RSUs at a lower price. It's still a relatively young and growing org so lots of growing pains you will hear about on blind, but if you're comfortable with that you can make a big impact.
That’s what I’m looking for - To learn and grow myself. But does SoFi provide enough opportunities for the same? I’m willing to accept the growing pains and looking to navigate through them. Hoping that it will be better in another year or two.
My brother works there and he absolutely loves it. Great time to join. Better than other fintechs if there is a recession
How come? Why do u think its better than others?
Because they are bank and it is good for a bank in high interest rate environment and also they are diversified across Consumer banking, lending and tech platform of Galileo/technics which powers the likes of robinhood/chime. Let me know if u need a referral to sofi - I can connect u directly to senior management.
YoE or level at SoFi?
10. Staff at SoFi
Nice! Congrats.
Was lurking a bit, so in summary - looks like little to no fear of layoff/offer rescinding at SoFi?
@op this is for which location?
Sofi is different from coinbase IMO. Coinbase is just used by a bunch of crypto speculators. No one can predict the stock market. But if you're joining now, you're definitely joining on a lower price end.
