Hi, How is morale at Cisco currently? Are there any layoffs planned? Also, how is the remote working policy at Cisco? A recruiter reached out today for a senior backend role, whats the expected base and TC? Thanks! #engineering #software #cisco #ciscocareers #swe
Dont join unless you have hit rock bottom in career
Just repeating the above point: donât join unless you have nowhere else to go. Most of the first level managers are incompetent and itâs really frustrating to work under them. Also, a layoff is rumored to come by shortly, maybe another one later this year. RTO policy seems to be dependent on the BU and subject to change anytime.
Depends on the org, ie people donât really need cisco IP phones so theyâre hurting but lots of stuff going Blind + anonymous forums skew very negative/bitter but really boils down to team + leadership. Worth a convo, best of luck to you + yours wherever you land whatever you decide
Unless you have no other alternative, donât come to Cisco because you wonât make good money, wonât learn much, no job security and in some teams there are no WLB. Have Cisco name on your resume is not attractive. It is pretty much Indian company, playing Asian politics.
Itâs more of which BU and teams ⌠some teams are already short staffed so they hardly get layoffs. WLB can be relatively different with all teams. Iâd say get the conversation going and if the pay negotiations work out well for you, make your choice. Most of people saying donât come to Cisco have been there for years and refuse to leave even when the market is doing great. Year after year they didnât get laid off but still discouraged folks from coming in đ¤Ł
Have been working in Cisco for 20 years as QA love the WLB and pay for CCIE without college degree with 200k TC. Not bad. But I have seen many developers suffering in Cisco and got cut without good reason, worse than Meta. Make sure you are on the right management chain. Otherwise you will get cut in Cisco annual layoff ritual.Rumor says that there will be a big one in February. Overall the engineers and management are not as smart as the time I joined because most of them already left in the last 10 years. But Cisco is still better than some fucking Indian consulting companies
If you are considering coming from MSFT to CSCO you must have hit rock bottom. Welcome. đ
Thanks everyone for the responses! đđź
Cisco is such a huge matrix organization that you canât generalize anything across the company. Business units (BU) operate in silos and have varying work culture and team competency levels. WLB, job stability, compensation etc can hugely vary across BUs and the team. So itâs best to go through the interview and the ask right questions to your interviewers to understand if itâs the right fit for you.

I heard from friends that a big layoff will be announcing this Feb mostly . Not a safe place for current market
Cisco is not a safe place even during good times. I would expect around 5-10K layoff this time.
